Unmasking Digital Transformation: 6 B2B Drivers for 2018

A look at the evolving trends of digital transformation as they relate to B2B companies in 2018. Nick Candito | Dec 05, 2017   By the end of this year, two-thirds of the Global 2000 CEOs will have digital transformation at the center of their corporate strategy. Many companies understand that moving operations off of paper is a natural first step, but many fear selecting something too narrow or burdening the organization at large with some Stone Age product. With those two ends of the spectrum, what does it really mean for companies to embrace digital transformation? Back in the ‘80s, the big...

How “Smart Bins” are Improving Industrial Supply Chains

Walk into any of the most high-tech manufacturing facilities, distribution centers or warehouses, and you’re likely to find a bin arrangement that feels out of place and dated. Bins, arranged in rows that are stacked on top of each other, hold all the vital parts and supplies that keep business moving – fasteners, tools, tape, wiring, personal protectiveequipment and anything else that can be imagined. But even as the supply chains for other parts of these operations have become more modern and advanced, bins are often stuck in the past. Many bin arrangements offer no visibility into the flow...

6 Trends Transforming Manufacturing in the US

Sterling, VA, Nov. 21, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — What are the major trends transforming manufacturing in the U.S? Conventional wisdom, as reflected in much of the U.S. news media, seems to view manufacturing as an unchanging or change-averse business sector notable for its grease-stained, blue collar workforce and outdated heavy equipment. This stigmatizing (and utterly mistaken) perception often positions U.S. manufacturing as stuck in some bygone era, akin to an old machine left out in the rain. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, U.S. manufacturing is being transformed and disrupted by precisely the same forces transforming...

It’s “free,” in terms of the lack of money paid for it, but some other information is traded. So, for example, in exchange for this ebook, the visitor fills out a form with a certain amount of contact information. At the end of the day, it’s still a transaction. But now — 11 years after HubSpot first came into existence — these transactions are starting to become diversified, and so are the reasons why we...

Fasteners are usually manufactured using either machining techniques or forming (without cutting) techniques. Forming can be subdivided into hot forming and cold forming. Each of these manufacturing processes requires expensive machinery, multiple steps, significant labor costs, and is associated with challenging design limitations. 3D...

For example, the long lead times, low batch sizes and high cost of aerospace parts make additive a perfect fit in this industry. GE’s famous fuel nozzle is just one example. Another area in which additive manufacturing shines is working with titanium. Notoriously difficult and expensive to cut, 3D printing titanium parts is proving to be a better solution than conventional machining. During World War II, “Rosie the Riveter” represented the United States government’s efforts to encourage women to go to work in order to aid the war effort. Finding the Right Digital Balance in B2B Customer Experience

Growing numbers of B2B companies are focusing on digitization to succeed with customer-centric strategies. Here’s how to get it right. Customer-centric strategies, once the preserve of business-to-consumer players like Amazon and Google, are now fundamentally changing the complicated landscape of business-to-business relationships, too. Case in point: the chief executive of a global chemical business produces items that are in such high demand that they are allocated, rather than sold, to customers. Nonetheless, he recently announced at a top-management meeting that the company could no longer afford to deliver “a subpar experience” to its customers and therefore would embark on a...

Myth-Busting American Manufacturing

Parents have discouraged their children from going into a manufacturing career because they think factories are “dirty and dangerous,” or lacking a solid wage and career opportunities. Manufacturers in other countries−such as Germany and Japan−are perceived as far more innovative than their U.S. counterparts. And, the most virulent rumor of all, people believe that manufacturing has vanished from the United States. When was the last time you heard, “We don’t make anything here anymore”? The...

The New Supply Chain

The first modern online order was placed in 1994 by a man in Philadelphia who bought Sting’s Ten Summoner’s Tales album from a friend for $12.48 (plus shipping, of course). Since then, the way we shop has changed radically. Today’s consumer is no longer restricted to a physical store, or even to traditional business hours — they can shop from practically wherever, whenever they want. And because of this freedom, they’ve come to expect a few things: easy ordering, seamless fulfillment and delivery and hassle- (and cost) free returns. To keep up, brands have had to adjust and integrate their supply chains from...
