Stanley Black & Decker President and Chief Executive Officer Donald Allan, Jr. Rang The Opening Bell® at the New York Stock Exchange in honor of the 100th year anniversary of DEWALT, a Stanley Black & Decker brand and leader in total jobsite solutions. As part of the celebration, DEWALT opened applications for its 2024 Grow the Trades Grant program, which is part of its $30 million commitment over five years to support organizations that are skilling, reskilling and upskilling tradespeople.
Nucor Corporation announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Rytec Corporation, a manufacturer and seller of high-speed, high-performance commercial doors. The all-cash transaction is valued at $565 million. With over 300 teammates operating from two manufacturing facilities in Wisconsin. This acquisition further executes Nucor’s strategy to expand beyond their core steelmaking businesses into related downstream businesses. The addition of high-performance doors will create cross-selling opportunities with other Nucor businesses and greatly expand Nucor’s product portfolio serving the commercial arena.
In a significant milestone for the fastener industry, the Industrial Fasteners Institute (IFI) recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of the ASTM Committee F16 on Fasteners at a ceremony in Philadelphia. During the event, Salim Brahimi, IFI’s Director of Engineering & Technology, was honored with the prestigious Walter C. Voss Award—marking the first time a member of the F16 committee has received this accolade. The award was presented by Kathie Morgan, the ASTM Immediate Past President. The Young Fastener Professionals Association Announced their Fastener Training Week Scholarship. YFP is offering members an opportunity to attend Fastener Training Week. Scholarships can be used for any Fastener Training Week program in 2024 or 2025. The FTI Training is valued at $2,800. Deadline to submit your completed application is October 15. The Marc Strandquist Memorial Scholarship Fund will offer one scholarship for Fastener Training Week each year (valued at $2,800 each).
