October 17, 2024, the European Commission launched an anti-dumping investigation concerning the import of screws without heads originating from China. This move follows a complaint lodged by the European Industrial Fasteners Institute (EIFI) on behalf of the EU fastener industry. The investigation aims to determine whether Chinese imports are being dumped and causing harm to the European market. Read more:

Fastenal Company (Nasdaq: FAST) (herein ‘Fastenal’) has promoted Donnalee K. Papenfuss to the position of Executive Vice President of Strategy and Communications effective November 1, 2024. In this newly created role, Ms. Papenfuss will lead marketing and drive strategic initiatives in the areas of technology, sales, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG). Additionally, she will enhance communication efforts to support these initiatives and ensure alignment with Fastenal’s overall business objectives. Read more:
Fastenal Names New Executive Vice President of Strategy and Communications
Boeing’s Union Says It Will Vote on New Proposal to End Strike. The deal reached by the machinists union, which represents more than 33,000 workers, would cumulatively raise wages by nearly 40 percent over four years. Which is a significant increase over the previous proposal and close to the amount initially sought by the Union. The deal also includes a bonus of $7,000 should workers ratify the deal, and the reinstatement of performance bonuses that were set to be cut. The union, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, said that the vote on the proposal would take place on Wednesday.
The Bossard Group has signed an agreement to acquire the German distributor Ferdinand Gross Group. The Ferdinand Gross Group is one of the leading distributors of fastening technology in Germany and is celebrating its 160th anniversary this year, they employ approximately 260 people, with locations in Hungary and Poland.

Global standards organization ASTM International has been selected by NIST the National Institute of Standards and Technology to launch a center of excellence focused on supporting standardization of critical and emerging technologies (CETs). The new Standardization Center of Excellence will be led by ASTM with multiple partners from across the standards development ecosystem. Read full release:
