What is Manufacturing Day?
Manufacturing Day℠ is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Although Manufacturing Day officially occurs on the first Friday in October—this year is Oct 7, 2016—any day can be a Manufacturing Day.
Companies and community organizations should plan their events on the date that works best for them and their community. Any day of the year can be Manufacturing Day. All events should be registered on this site no matter what date they are scheduled. Only registered event hosts have access to all of the free event planning and execution resources created by the national co-producers.
Host an event to join the MFG DAY movement!
Students are the workforce of the future. This is your opportunity to provide advice about the kinds of careers that your company offers, the type of training and educational coursework you seek when hiring employees. There is no better time to offer comments about opportunities available to dedicated workers with a professional attitude. If there are specific kinds of training or skills that you need and find it hard to hire for, let them know.
Your event can be of any size or shape. The MFG Day event planning resources will help you design an event that fits.

MFG DAY PROCLAMATIONS

Proclamations are a great way to get elected officials to recognize and honor manufacturing and Manufacturing DaySM celebrations. Anyone can ask for a proclamation – a manufacturer, a member of the Chamber of Commerce or economic development team from a region, or someone who is serving as an area organizer of MFG DAY events. It’s as simple as picking up the phone and calling the office of your mayor, county board chairman, or congressional representative.
WHAT SHOULD THE PROCLAMATION SAY?
The biggest question we hear at MFG DAY is “what should the proclamation say”? A government office will usually have plenty of general information available about manufacturing in their city, county, or state that they can include in the proclamation. If you are requesting a proclamation and are asked for ideas about what can be written, a great place to go for ideas is the Proclamations page of mfgday.com. There you can look through a large number of already posted proclamations from this year and last year. You’ll come away with lots of good ideas. Once you have obtained a proclamation, be sure to scan it and post it on the proclamations page of mfgday.com for others to see.
