The Festus High School Rocket Club will represent the United States in the International Rocketry Challenge (IRC) at the International Paris Air Show, courtesy of the Raytheon Company. They will aim to out-launch the national champions from the United Kingdom, France and Japan to win the third consecutive international rocketry championship for the U.S. On June 22, students will demonstrate their knowledge in the IRC Presentation Contest before a distinguished panel of international judges that will account for 40 percent of their overall score for the competition. On June 23, students will launch their rockets on the tarmac at the airshow. The 10-student team from Festus, Mo. out-launched more than 800 teams to win the world’s largest rocket contest, the Team America Rocketry Challenge in May.
